Inside the box, you receive the Philips Series 5000 S5420/06 Shaver along with a Precision trimmer, a Protective cap, a user manual and a 2-year guarantee. The Philips Aquatouch shaver looks and feels well made, it is light when you hold it and looks quite stylish with its ergonomic design. Also, included in the box is one lithium battery and a mains adapter which comes with a two-pin plug to charge the shaver. Operations and Ease of Use

This Philips S5420/06 AquaTouch shaver provides no tugging and glides effortlessly over your skin. This is due to the MultiPrecision Blade System on the three cutting heads, with a few different types of blades able to cut long and short hair leaving a smooth shave. The Philips Series 5000 S5420/06 Shaver has 5 direction Flex Heads on the shaver with 5 independent movements. This gives you get a precise shave and a much closer shave to the skin even on the neck and jawline. Switching between the Philips Aquatouch shaver head and Precision trimmer is simple it may require a little bit of force but you just clip them on and you’re ready to go.

Results After Shaving

A good shave only takes 5 minutes with this Philips AquaTouch shaver and it will easily go through beard that has grown for about a week. You can feel the blades on this shaver are very sharp and due to the movements of the Flex heads, the shaver adapts perfectly to the contours of your skin. It takes care of hair in problematic areas such as upper lip, chin and neck with ease. Using the shaver in a circular motion will easily catch and cut hairs producing a good shave. As a wet shaver, it goes over your skin more smoothly and the results are clean and notable.

Due to the MultiPrecision Blade system the first blade of the shaver raises each hair while the second comfortable cuts the hair. Due to this the head glides smoothly over your skin and does not pull hair causing no discomfort. If you are worried about shaving sensitive skin with Philips AquaTouch shaver then using shaving cream is a good solution as it will be a much smoother shave and doesn’t cause the skin any problems.

Battery Life

The Philips Series 5000 S5420/06 Shaver runs off a lithium battery and can run at full charge for an hour. This means you can shave quite a few times before the battery runs out. This charge time is slightly longer than the AquaTouch Shaver AT890/20 discussed in our previous review, . The recharge time is one hour which is impressive so you don’t have to wait long at all for a full charge. You can simply leave it on overnight if you need it for the next day. There is also a 5-minute quick charge feature for one shave. This is convenient since with shaver all you need is 5 minutes for a good shave. Although the Philips AquaTouch shaver has no battery level indicator there is a battery indicator LED light which shows red when low/empty and pulses white while charging.

Cleaning and Care

Unlike the AquaTouch AT890/20 this shaver does not come with a cleaning brush. However, when the Philips Series 5000 S5420/06 Shaver is used as a dry shaver the hair is collected under the blades. You only have to flip open the shaver head and wash off the hair under a tap. It’s much cleaner when having a wet shave as the shaver is waterproof and there is no need for rinsing the hairs out only simply drying the shaver.

Special Features

One special feature of this Philips AquaTouch shaver is the Precision trimmer attachment. It work wells for getting rid of sideburns and tidying up beards. Clipping the trimmer onto the shaver may be a worry for some. However the attachments are quite sturdy and it is useful for cleaning the trimmer with ease.

Final Thoughts

Overall this is a great Philips AquaTouch shaver with the flexibility of the shaver head being it’s best distinguishing feature it moves and flexes well to fit the shape of your face. This provides a good shave every time. One worry was how the attachments had to clip onto the shaver. However, when using the Philips Series 5000 S5420/06 Shaver switching between the attachments was effortless and it was easier to clean and store them. The user manual was straight forward to follow and tells you how to properly clip on the attachments so no need to worry about anything breaking. It works well both dry and wet shaving however wet shaving seems to be a little quicker with this shaver. This shaver is optimal for those who shave regularly.
